Urbanna plans events; crab feast is Saturday

The following events will take place in Urbanna in September and October. The public is invited to attend.
This Saturday, August 29, beginning at 5 p.m. a Crab Feast will be held at the Urbanna Firehouse as a fundraiser for the volunteer fire department. Hot dogs, hamburgers, French fries and soft drinks also will be available. An all-you-can ticket is $20. Children under 6 years of age eat free. Golden beverage will be sold separately. Music will be provided by a DJ.
On Saturday, Sept. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. “Rivah Dance,” a fundraiser for the Art on the Half Shell Festival Foundation, will be held on the lawn of Lansdowne on Virginia Street. Music will be by “Tinkers Dam” and food by Something Different Deli. Wine and beer will be available. Bring a chair or blanket (leave coolers at home). There is no admission charge. On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Urbanna Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Southside Sentinel and on the lawn of the Marble House.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. Urbanna Family Fun Day will be held on the grounds of the Urbanna Firehouse. The event will feature the “No Strings Attached” puppets, Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen and Little Miss Spat contestants, a dunking booth, face painting, and train rides. New this year will be performances by the “Stepping Stones” square dancers, a magic show and tie-dying T-shirts. The food menu consists of barbecue with cole slaw, hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, drinks and cotton candy.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. “Music Under the Stars” at Taber Park will feature Amy Henderson, who plays acoustic folk rock. Picnic set-ups begin at 6 p.m. Antique cars will be displayed. No admission charge.
On Saturday, Oct. 10, the Urbanna Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Southside Sentinel and on the lawn of the Marble House.
On Saturday, Oct. 17, from 7 to 10 p.m ., “Music Under the Stars” at Taber Park will feature “The Doc & Dan Band.”
