Urbanna Farmers Market is Saturday in Taber Park

There are kids activities at the Urbanna Farmers Market.

by Ginny Sawkins

Summer has arrived and the Urbanna Farmers Market will be front and center in Taber Park this Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to share the bounty of all the goodness the market has to offer.

Paige and Randy Melton of the “Meltones” will be playing their popular music while visitors wander the park. Designer pork rinds, funnel cakes, coffee and Nathan’s hot dogs will be available, plus the usual fare of fresh-off-the-truck vegetables, homemade baked goods from the good ladies of the Methodist church, and hand-selected fresh eggs from the happy chickens of Lovers Retreat Farm.

From Dreaming Tree Farms, don’t leave the market without buying several of their absolutely delicious chilled salads. And Miss Mary will have her seafood truck on site so customers may enjoy the very freshest of the Bay to take home.

I’ve never tasted better Pimento cheese than that of River Southern. They’ll be there, too. You can take a taste and buy a small or large container to take home along with a glass of oh-so-refreshing lavender lemonade.

All of these treats will be at the Park this Saturday for the enjoyment of all who attend.

The kids will love the “farm” to play in so don’t forget that there’s something for them, too. As always during the market, Middlesex County’s “Pet Friends for Life” will have an adorable pup to greet everyone, sniffing out a possible forever home.

All of these vignettes are part of summer in Urbanna and we hope to see a great turnout this Saturday.
