Unity World Festival promises music, food, awards, vendors and more

by Larry Chowning

The 3rd Annual Unity World Festival will be held in Urbanna at the outdoor music garden behind the Middlesex County Volunteer Fire Department in Urbanna on Saturday, August 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Middlesex County and the Middlesex Ministerial Association in conjunction with area churches. The purpose of this event is to “bridge the gap” between area churches and the community at large, said president of the festival Lou Belcher of Urbanna.

There will be baked goods, raffles and drawings, arts and crafts, educational programs, youth activities and games, senior programs, health care programs and food vendors.

The festival is designed to enhance tourism and vendor exposure, and to also provide a benefit for churches, businesses and civic groups, said Belcher.

“Participation will also provide opportunities for scholarship fundraising and outreach ministry programs,” said Belcher. “We are seeking volunteers and, if you would like to participate as a volunteer, we have several committees in need of support.”
