The Haven benefits from community service project of 2013 Holly Ball Queen

The Haven in Warsaw thanks Elizabeth Rogers, the 2013 Holly Ball Queen, for setting a new tradition by choosing The Haven Shelter & Services Inc. as the first community service project of the Holly Ball festivities.

Having worked with The Haven as a volunteer while at St. Margaret’s School, Rogers was familiar with the needs of the organization and the many services. The Haven provides services and support to victims of domestic and sexual violence. Rogers shared The Haven’s wish list with the 22 debutantes and asked them to bring donations to the various events held in her honor.

During the Holly Ball, Delegate Margaret Ransone, orator for the evening, reminded the ladies and those in attendance at the Holly Ball to possess the virtues of kindness and a sense of giving on a daily basis and the putting the needs of others above their own.

On December 30, Elizabeth Rogers and the reigning 2014 Holly Ball Queen, Hannah Rogers, delivered a truck-load of much needed supplies including paper towels, toilet paper, diapers, baby wipes, bottled water, and trash bags to the shelter. The Haven truly appreciates the generosity of Elizabeth Rogers and the 2013 debutantes. These items are needed daily and enable The Haven to provide much needed services within our community.

The Holly Ball is the fundraising arm of The Tidewater Foundation. Proceeds from the Holly Ball are dispersed by the Tidewater Foundation to many charitable organizations supporting education and youth in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
