Talent Search is Saturday at Donk’s Theater

Cindy Snyder was the winner of the second Talent Search on May 21.

This Saturday, June 27, Donk’s Theater in Mathews, Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry, will host its third Talent Search of the year.

On Talent Search nights, Donk’s opens its microphones to talented performers who want to compete while performing with a live band. Contestants may accompany themselves with an instrument or they may use the Shades of Country band for their presentation. Because of space and time limitations, the competition does not include bands.

Each person wishing to be a contestant must pick two well-known country songs. A list of possible songs that the band knows is posted on the Donk’s website (http://www.donkstheater.com). After meeting with the band, one of those songs will be selected to present to the audience and the judges.

On the night of the show, contestants must report to Donk’s between 6 and 7 p.m. to register.

This Saturday’s show will also feature the cast of the Li’l Ole Opry performing hits of the legends of country music, with the “Shades of Country” band and emcee Uncle Jimmy Wickham.

Admission is $12 for adults; $2 for children. Show time is 8 p.m. Doors open to the public at 7:30 p.m. For tickets and information, call 725-7760.
