Steamboat Era Museum open house is Saturday

The Steamboat Era Museum in Irvington will host an open house on Saturday, March 8, from 2-6 p.m. Staff and volunteers are in the process of getting ready for opening day, May 1, and want the public’s input at the open house.

“At the moment, the museum is a mess with caution tape everywhere!” said museum director Barbara Brecher. “The exhibits have been dismantled, the walls are being painted, and the shop is empty!”

Public input is being sought as the exhibit designers finalize plans and make decisions about priorities for 2014. Several naming opportunities are available to honor or memorialize loved ones. In addition, all donations made that day will be used exclusively for building the exhibits. All visitors to the open house will receive a free admission pass to encourage a return visit,
