Relay for Life fundraiser features kids carnival, food, I-Dent-A Kid, motorcycles, vendors
This Saturday at Urbanna Firehouse
Relay for Life of Middlesex County is gearing up for a major fundraiser from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. this Saturday, April 13, behind the Urbanna Firehouse.
There will be something for everyone! Several teams will join together to offer a kids carnival, vendor show, hair cut-a-thon, pick a duck, face painting, tattoos, hairspray, pick a prize, water balloon toss, clowns, make a bracelet, hot dogs, popcorn, candy, donuts, cakes and sno-cones.
The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office will conduct an I-Dent-A Kid booth. According to sources, nearly a million children are reported lost, missing, or separated from their parents each year. In far too many cases, law enforcement agencies are delayed in their efforts to locate lost and missing children by the lack of current and accurate descriptions, fingerprints and high-quality photographs. As we have learned, being able to respond immediately offers the best chance for safe recovery. Throughout America, officials concur that the possession of a complete profile is the best assurance of a quick safe recovery of a lost or missing child. Should this happen to your child, you will be ready to provide law enforcement officials with vital information about your child by participating in the Ident-A-Kid program.
“Team Devoted” captain Nina Fitchett, owner of the local hair salon Devoted, will be joined by stylist Shannon Washington to perform free haircuts, (donations expected) for their part in the fundraiser.
Thanks to team “Peace, Love and Happiness,” the Real Recognyze Motorcycle Club of the Northern Neck will be sponsoring a “Ride For Life” in connection with this event. Members from about 20 motorcycle clubs will leave Tappahannock around 10:30 a.m. and ride into Urbanna to start the day’s events. Members of the Mustang Club also are expected.
Team “Jamaica Angels” will host a vendor show, featuring many local private vendors including Mary Kay, Tupperware, IT WORKS Body Wraps, Scentsy, Pampered Chef, Origami Owl, 31 Gifts, homemade jewelry and crafts, Paparizzi!, Party-Lites, Tastefully Simple, and more.

The American Cancer Society along with the Relay for Life teams are working hard to save more lives faster. This year 12 million cancer survivors celebrated another birthday. Susan Hurley-Fowler, spokesperson for Relay for Life, said, “I thank everyone for their part in making this happen.”
