RAL announces June events

The Rappahannock Art League (RAL) is sponsoring the following events during the month of June:

  • May 28-June 30, new exhibit, “The 7th Annual Patron’s Gala Art Show” features original works of art donated by RAL member artists will be on display for this annual fundraiser. The public is invited to come by the Studio Gallery to view the artwork Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and purchase a ticket for the Patrons Gala Art Show, which will be held on June 30 beginning at 4 p.m. Every ticket-holder will take part in the drawing and will have the opportunity to choose a valuable work of art from the show to take home. Tickets are $100 and more than one can be purchased. The number of tickets sold will not exceed the number of artworks in the show. The public is welcome to observe the June 30 drawing at no charge. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served and the drawing will begin at 5 p.m.

  • June 7, 5-7 p.m., First Friday reception for the Patron’s Gala Art Show.

  • June 24-28, “Mosaics, Mosaics, Mosaics,” a summer fun workshop for children. Award-winning artist Sukey Starkey will be the instructor. Students, ages 8-17, will explore the ancient art form of mosaics and will create two different pieces: a garden mosaic and a 10-by-10-inch accent mirror. The morning class will be held from 9-11 a.m. each day and the afternoon class will be held from 1-3 p.m. each day. Register for morning or afternoon only. The cost is $50. In addition, a materials fee of $10 will be due to the instructor the first day of class. Space is available for only 12 participants per class on a first-come, first-served basis.
