Puller Run set for Friday
The 16th annual Chesty Puller Memorial Relay Run will take place on Friday, November 13.
Starting at about 1:30 p.m., Marines from Ft. Lee in Petersburg will run in formation through Saluda to Christ Episcopal Church where they will pay their respects at the grave of Lt. Gen. Lewis B. “Chesty” Puller, the most decorated Marine in the Corps’ 237-year history.
The Marine Corps Detachment will start the run at 5 a.m. It will be executed in 2-3 mile intervals with two Marines per interval. They are scheduled to arrive at Saluda at 1 p.m. where they will assemble for the final leg of the run to Christ Episcopal Church. About 150 Marines will participate in the relay, which will cover the 68 miles from Ft. Lee to Saluda and on to Christ Episcopal Church.
The public is invited to come out and cheer on the troops.
