Pianist Thomas Pandolfi to perform in Mathews

Ever wonder how it would sound if an international concert pianist performed music for the holidays? Find out at Concerts By The Bay on Sunday, December 15, at 3 p.m. at Mathews High School, 9889 Buckley Hall Rd.

Virtuoso young pianist Thomas Pandolfi will perform a spectacular program titled “Holiday Spirit—Piano Works for the Season of Christmas.” Pandolfi will play several traditional favorite songs.

The program also includes music from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”; “Christmas Time is Here” (from “A Charlie Brown Christmas”); and an arrangement of Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride!”

He also will play Beethoven’s powerful, and dramatic “Pathetique Sonata” as a centerpiece in celebration of that composer’s 243rd birthday.

“This is a concert that people of all ages will enjoy, so bring the kids for a wonderful afternoon together,” said an event spokesperson.

Youth through high school age are admitted free. Adult prices at the door are: one concert, $25; or a season ticket for three concerts, $45.

Pandolfi has performed as a soloist and with orchestras across the United States and Europe. He is lauded for his virtuosity, technical skill, and beautiful interpretation.
