‘Party at the Wharf’ to feature music, dancing, food, beverages

Lynda Smith & 7th Street

The annual “Party at the Wharf” at Williams Wharf at 1039 Williams Wharf Road in Mathews will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday, September 8.

The cover cost for adults is $5 at the gate. Food will be sold by Creekside Catering, and there will be a beer/wine cash bar.

Music by “Lynda Smith & 7th Street” will begin at 6 p.m.

The 11th annual Wharf to Wharf Swim will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 17, at Williams Wharf.

This is a fundraiser for Mathews Land Conservancy’s Williams Wharf Landing Project. Swimmers must raise a minimum of $100 in sponsorship to participate in this 1,400-meter open water swim from Williams Wharf to Hicks Wharf and back across the East River. Air and water temperatures are typically ideal and jellyfish are minimal.

All ages and abilities are welcome and swim aids are permitted.  Safety launches and volunteer kayakers will be in full force for anyone who might need assistance.

Prizes are given to the top three fundraisers and all donations are tax-deductible. Spectators are welcome and encouraged as there will be food by Creekside Catering and Kona Ice, a beer/wine cash bar, and music by Clayton Ware.
