The Northern Neck Orchestra (NNO), in association with the Virginia Chapter of American String Teachers Association (VASTA), will present “Opus 2,” a string recital, at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury in Irvington at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 12.

The recital, now in its second year, supports the educational outreach activities of the Northern Neck Orchestra and provides violin, viola and cello students the experience of performing in a public setting. The recital will feature students at various levels of musical development as well as adult and student string players from the orchestra.

Students of all ages and abilities are expected to participate. The 2011 recital included performers from beginners to accomplished musicians.

The concert is free and the public is invited to attend. For information regarding the recital, the orchestra or VASTA, call 804-438-5225.

The NNO is a full-sized symphony orchestra based in Kilmarnock. Founded in 1991 and operating with partial funding from the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts, the NNO offers three concerts per year as well as other opportunities for local students to perform music from the classical repertoire.
