Orchestra concludes season with concert featuring Brahms, Bizet and Beethoven

The exuberant finale to the Northern Neck Orchestra’s 2017-18 concert season features a rousing and romantic evening of dances and fantasies composed by Brahms, Bizet and Beethoven.

The orchestra, conducted by music director Michael Repper, will be accompanied by the Chesapeake Chorale, and artistic director Dr. Cheryl Brown Davis at its performance on Friday, May 4, at the Lancaster Middle School Theatre in Kilmarnock. The 7:30 p.m. concert will be preceded by an entertaining pre-concert talk hosted by Repper starting at 6:45 p.m.

Tickets for the concert, which includes admission to the pre-concert talk, are $30. Students are admitted free with an online reservation. Tickets may be purchased online at or at the door.

The program features Johannes Brahms spirited Hungarian Dance No. 5, selections from Georges Bizet’s classic opera Carmen, Brahms romantic Liebeslieder Walzer with the Chesapeake Chorale, which is appearing with the Northern Neck Orchestra for the fifth time.

The concert concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven’s sublime “Fantasy for Piano, Chorus and Orchestra,” with Repper conducting from the piano, again joined by the Chesapeake Chorale.
