‘Oldies but goodies’ to take center stage at Donk’s

Donk’s Theater regular Phil Johnson

Donk’s Theater will present its annual Oldies Show, featuring songs from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s in the country, rock-a-billy, and early soft rock arena.

For this show, the cast of Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will perform the songs of well-known country and soft-rock stars. With wigs, “glitter,” comedy and quality, this show promises to be a night when the Donk’s audience can step back in time to experience some of their favorite music from days gone by.

Donk’s will be alive with memories when members of the Opry cast step out to perform favorite songs of the past, including Faron Winter as Tina Turner, PJ Owens as Hank Williams Sr., Steve Motley as Jerry Reed, and special guests Courtney Mullins (teaming up with her mom, Deanna) and Richard Smith with his sister, Lynda Smith, weaving their own special musical magic. Phil Johnson will be on hand with his “oldies” saxophone, Betsy Ripley with her rendition of Carly Simon, Uncle Jimmy Wickham, the Shades of Country and more.

Admission is $12 for adults; $5 for children. Show time is Saturday at 8 p.m. Doors open to the public at 7:30 p.m. For tickets, reservations and information, call 725-7760.
