‘Ocean Acidity’ is lecture topic Thursday at VIMS

The VIMS 2010  After Hours Lecture Series kicks off with “Rising ocean acidity: the other CO2 problem” on Thursday, January 28, at 7 p.m.

Carbon dioxide’s impacts on the atmosphere are well known. The public is invited to join VIMS professor Deborah Bronk as she explores the less-familiar, but equally troublesome, impacts of excess CO2 on ocean acidity. Bronk will describe the science behind ocean acidification and its possible effects on marine organisms and ecosystems.

There is no charge to attend this public lecture, however, registration is required.  Register online at http://www.vims.edu/events or call 804-684-7846.

The VIMS After Hours Lecture Series is provided in part by  the Center for Coastal Resources Management and Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve at VIMS.
