New classes offered at Middlesex YMCA

The Middlesex YMCA at Hartfield is offering a special promotion for new members. Save $50 to $100 off the joining fee during the month of June. Current members who refer a new member will receive one month’s free membership. Refer two members; receive two months free. “It’s a good time to join the YMCA, we have lots of new adult programs and fitness programs that are inclusive to the whole family,” said director Buzz Lambert.

New classes being held at the YMCA in June include:

  • Water Aerobics
The Middlesex Family YMCA has extended its aerobics program to include aquatics. Anyone in the community can participate. You do not have to be a member to come to class. Classes are being held beginning June 23 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Urbanna Pool in Taber Park. The cost is $5 per class or $40 for the 6-week program.
“Everyone from teens to seniors can benefit from the class,” said Lambert. “It’s a good way to work out and not have to sweat. You will get energized and feel good the rest of the day after exercising in the pool. The water is supportive to joints and supports your weight, putting less impact on your body. You can still get a great workout and elevate your heart rate to get a good cardiovascular workout, just ask the ladies and gentlemen in the class.”
  • Boot Camp
Need an extra incentive to work out or something to motivate you to the next level? Try Boot Camp—a non-traditional class using weights, jump ropes, and other methods of conditioning to get into shape. The class will start at 8 a.m. on Monday and Friday mornings beginning June 22 with some classes to be held outside. The charge for the class will be $25 for members and $50 for non-members.
  • Yogalates
A new class, which combines elements of both yoga and pilates, will work on your core strength as well as flexibility and muscle lengthening. The class is being held on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:10 a.m. at the YMCA. There is no additional charge for this class if you are a member. Participants may pay $7 per class if you are not a member.
