Museums of Middlesex announces new member

In February of 2017, John Collamore, obviously a dedicated member of the Colonial Seaport Foundation (CSF), shovels snow off the decks of the sloop “Luna,” an ongoing project by the CSF to recreate a replica of an 18th-century coastal trading sloop. Luna has come a long way since this picture. The launch is scheduled over the next several months. Watch the Sentinel for more information about visiting the project.

The Museums of Middlesex (MOM) is proud to announce that the Colonial Seaport Foundation (CSF) has, at its March 6 meeting, been brought in as a MOM member to add to our group of non-profit organizations promoting Middlesex history. CSF is an 11-year educational and charitable organization (501c3) focused on preserving facets of colonial maritime history by providing historically accurate living history presentations and education to the public. Find them at

Museums of Middlesex is an “umbrella” of our three (now four) diverse museums and foundations formed to promote the four groups as versatile, disparate attractions, increase our overall and individual visitor rate, establish the MOM members as visitor information centers, and expand and promote other historical and tourism related areas of interest in all areas of Middlesex. The Museums of Middlesex applies for multi-applicant grants and monies not available to its individual members for funding.

Although we are currently focusing on promoting the historical aspects of our county, our ultimate goal is to also work to increase awareness of Middlesex as a destination for outdoor recreation, lodging, dining and relaxation on the water.

MOMs three founding museums are the Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society, Urbanna Museum, and Deltaville Maritime Museum.
