Museum fish fry dinner to be held October 12

The Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society invites the public to its annual fish fry to be held Friday, October 12, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Christ Church Parish Hall, Rt. 33, Christchurch.

Chef Robin Wells said he will be frying up some of the best fish you’ve ever eaten. The menu includes fried Atlantic white fish, biscuits made from scratch, fresh hand-mixed cole slaw, and decadent homemade triple chocolate brownies accompanied with iced tea and water.

Clayton Neal, who is a founding member of the locally popular band called “Jumbo Lump Daddy and the Backfin Boys,” will provide the entertainment with a “rivahdacious” blend of folk, rock’n roll, soul, country, Cajun, and bluegrass. He has performed in various bands as a vocalist, a guitarist, and a harmonica player.

The tickets are $15 each and may be ordered by mailing a check payable to “The Middlesex Museum” and mailed to the Middlesex Museum and Historical Society, P.O. Box 121, Saluda, VA 23149. Guests may also visit the museum website at to order tickets, or visit the museum where tickets will be sold on Saturdays from 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Take-out is available but tickets will need to be purchased Wednesday, October 10. Tickets are limited in number and should be purchased without delay.

A cash bar offering soda, beer and wine will be available.

The Middlesex Museum extends sincere appreciation to its event sponsors: Christchurch School student volunteers; C&F Bank, Saluda, Elizabeth Faudree, manager; Faulkner Funeral Homes, Gregg C. Faulkner Sr.; Hardee’s, Saluda; and Scout Troop #341 volunteers. It’s not too late to be a sponsor.  Contact Scott Krejci, board member and event chair (804-758-0789) with sponsorship questions or send a check to the museum designated “fish fry sponsorship.” All sponsorships are acknowledged on our website and all event publicity.
