Miss Ann Day set for August 16 in Urbanna
Later this summer the “Miss Ann” will make her last “whiskey run” trips from The Tides Inn to Urbanna, and a variety of activities are being planned for Saturday, August 16, as part of “Miss Ann Day” in Urbanna.
The Miss Ann has been sold to a Washington, D.C., business but is remaining at The Tides Inn through the summer.
The Urbanna Town Council earlier adopted a resolution making August 16 “Miss Ann Day” in Urbanna.
Janet Smith, a member of the Urbanna Business Association and the Urbanna Town Council, will accompany guests on the “Miss Ann” on their August 16 trip across the Rappahannock River.
The guests will receive town walking tour information, be greeted by a welcoming committee at the old Texaco Dock on Urbanna Creek, and be invited to a small reception at the Middlesex Art Guild Gallery on Virginia Street.
“The Business Association and the Town of Urbanna want to make this day special,” said Smith. “We have invited some special guests who are well acquainted with the Miss Ann. We hope they will share some experiences with our guests and citizens.”
