Middlesex Relay for Life begins tonight at CCS

Middlesex Relay for Life events at Christchurch School will run all night from 6 p.m on Friday, May 4, until 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, said event chair Sharon Darnell.

“Cancer doesn’t sleep and we’re not going to sleep either,” she said.  “I want to thank all of the relay teams in Middlesex County. We are going to have an awesome relay. Everyone is invited to join in the fun.”

Friday’s schedule of events is as follows:

  • 4 p.m. - Teams begin setting up campsites.
  • 5 p.m. - Doowilly’s food stand opens, dunking booth, silent auction, DJ Blake Williams.
  • 5:30 p.m. - Survivor registration.
  • 6 p.m. - Survivor Dinner held in board room and “Assembly Required” band to perform.
  • 7 p.m. - Opening ceremonies.
  • 7:30 p.m. - Children’s activities open. Miss Relay contestants will take the stage.
  • 8 p.m. - “Rip Tide” band to perform.
  • 9 p.m. - Caregiver recognition. Luminaria Ceremony with Make-A-Way Praise Choir.
  • 10:30 p.m. - Make a band video.
  • 11 p.m. - Scavenger hunt being put on by St. Clare Walker Middle School.
  • Midnight - Zumba.

Saturday’s schedule of events is as follows:

  • 1:30 a.m. - Karaoke with DJ Blake.
  • 2 a.m. - Movie and popcorn.
  • 4 a.m. - Wii dance.
  • 5 a.m. - Wii DJ.
  • 5:45 a.m. - Breakfast from Hardee’s.
  • 6 a.m. - Fight back and closing ceremonies.
  • Clean up, go home and sleep.

Throughout the evening there will be many activities for children, such as: moon bounce and slide, miniature pony rides, train ride, snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn, games with prizes, face painting, tattoos and special laps around the track.
