Bobby Messano, nine times first-round Grammy nominee and Blues Hall of Fame inductee, brings his full tilt boogie blues style to the waterfront park stage at the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park this Saturday, October 26. Gates open at 5 p.m., and the performance is from 6-8 p.m.
This very special musical event will be the official release concert for his new CD, “Welcome to Deltaville.” The CD opened at #21 on the blues charts.
Bobby will bring Michael Peck on drums, former Davy Jones (Monkees) bass player Steve Geller, and Freddie Gasparini on keyboards.
John “Blueshammer” Hammer writes in the album notes: “You may or may not have heard of Deltaville, VA; ‘The boating capital of the Chesapeake Bay.’ The mere tagline inspires thoughts of peaceful vistas and dreams come true. I bring this up to help illustrate the spirit, and set the mood for you, as you’re immersed in ‘Welcome to Deltaville.’ . . . Drop ‘Welcome to Deltaville’ into your player and feel your travails and troubles lifted from your shoulders as Bobby Messano and his crew of familiar collaborators and amazing guest characters sweep you up in the magic of the music. . . . “
If you’ve never heard of Bobby Messano, he was born in New Jersey very close to New York City. He grew up in a time when a young guitarist could work hard, learn his craft and maybe become a guitar hero (or at least play on a record or two). His main influences as a young guitarist were Jeff Beck, BB King, Eric Clapton, Duane Allman and Jimi Hendrix. It would take several pages to list all his albums, awards, tours and “played with’s”, so just Google “Bobby Messano” online for everything Messano. Heck, he’s even got a Wikipedia page.
The CD release concert will be held in the museum’s spacious waterfront park overlooking pristine Mill Creek. This is a bring your own lawn chair, cooler and picnic event.
Tickets are $10 per person in advance at the museum office or Nauti Nell’s in Deltaville. Tickets the day of the show or at the gate are $15. Children under 12 are free. Proceeds will benefit performing arts in the park.
