After receiving a request from a resident of Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury (RWC) in Irvington to make car shows more accessible to handicapped people, the Memory Lane Car Club decided to take the car show to the residents.
Now in its second year, the RWC Spring Fling was held June 22. “This event has been very well received by the residents and the Memory Lane Car Club members as indicated by an overflow attendance of a wide variety of vehicles,” said a car club spokesperson.
Vehicles in attendance ranged from small sports cars to large classics with 1950s style hot rods, 60s muscle cars, fire trucks and military vehicles rounding out the show. “With the considerable number of veterans in residence at RWC the military vehicles are always a favorite,” said the spokesperson.
The Memory Lane Car Club invites everyone with a collector vehicle to join them this Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Gwynn’s Island Festival. This is a free event with a large number of arts, crafts and other vendors.
