Mathews Market Days unveils 2013 poster
Mathews Market Days chair Mark Smith and this year’s Honorary Mayor, Barbara Bass, recently unveiled the official 2013 Mathews Market Days winning poster by Robin Marshall. Committee member Bobbi McElroy presented a $500 check to Marshall before she signed and numbered the limited edition collectable art prints, while light refreshments were served and music played by Buddy Waymack in the Art Speaks Gallery at the Bay School Community Arts Center.
Marshall’s oil painting is titled “Blue” and is how she interprets this year’s theme “Mathews’ Bounty,” with the blue heron, blue crab, blue water, blue fish and the rarity of the blue pearl. “It only seemed fitting to name the painting Blue,” she said.
The limited edition, signed/numbered collectable art print is on sale now for $25 each at the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center. They also can purchased at Market Days at the Information Booth on September 6-7.
After Market Days, they may be purchased at the regular price of $35 each if there are any left. All proceeds from the sales are returned to the Mathews community in the form of grant funds.
