“Tripping: A Writer’s Journey,” a comedy by Mary Buxton.

Urbanna author and 35-year columnist for the Southside Sentinel, Mary Wakefield Buxton, has published a comedy based on her travels titled “Tripping: A Writer’s Journeys.” This is her 14th book.

“I love to write comedy,” she said of her new book, “and this book pokes fun at me as it honors my husband Chip and my 56-year wedding anniversary of our “North-South” marriage. It may not be so rare today but in 1963, when we were married, it was unusual to jump the Mason-Dixon line when one said ‘I do.’ Neither of us had any idea what we were in for.

“We came from totally different backgrounds and hilariously ‘fell in love’ while arguing over the Civil War only to realize on our honeymoon that our ancestors were literally shooting at each other and not so very long ago!” Buxton explained.

Signed copies of her new book can be purchased for $15 at the Southside Sentinel office or by mail to Rappahannock Press, P.O. Box 549, Urbanna, VA 23175 and adding $6 to cover mailing costs and tax.
