LMVFD open house a success
Last Saturday the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department held an open house for the community to come and see the new renovations and additions to the fire department.
Spearheaded by committee chair and LMVFD 2nd Captain William Robins, the event was a great success. Adults and children alike were invited to tour the department and there were activities for the children to enjoy, as well as a “goodie” bag and helmet to take home. The ladies auxiliary also provided face painting, drinks, hot dogs, chips and a dessert.
“We had a wonderful turnout and everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves,” said LMVFD president Greg Harrow. “The children really enjoyed climbing on the trucks and sitting in the drivers seats. They especially enjoyed being able to hold a hose and spray water from a hose reel.”
The fire department recently underwent a 15-foot extension to the front bays to allow more room for the trucks and the expansion of equipment in the future. The kitchens, bathrooms, ceilings and floors also were renovated in the process.
“It truly is remarkable and the community needed the opportunity to come and see how important it is for us to maintain a well organized and clean facility so that we can operate effectively and efficiently,” said Harrow. “The opportunity to see and experience firsthand where all of the heartfelt generosity in donations is utilized was important for our members and the community.”
