John M. Barber reception is August 30 in Deltaville

by Bill Powell
Events Director
Maritime Museum

On Labor Day Saturday, August 30, the Deltaville Maritime Museum will welcome artist John M. Barber to host a 4-7 p.m. reception in the museum to celebrate his ongoing exhibition “John M. Barber’s Chesapeake-50 Years of Maritime Art,” an exhibition of 58 original paintings of Chesapeake Bay scenes on loan from their owners. Barber will personally be on hand to share his stories and answer questions about his paintings. Refreshments will be available.

“The Schooner Maggie off Stingray Point,” an original maritime oil painting by Barber has been donated as a prize for a raffle being held to benefit the Deltaville Maritime Museum. Barber generously painted the artwork specifically for this raffle. Raffle tickets are $25 each, or five for $100. The drawing will be held at an October 11 reception.

Tickets for this rare raffle opportunity are also available at the Deltaville Maritime Museum, Nauti Nell’s, Hurd’s Hardware, Pat’s Gallery, and “The Shop” in Deltaville; River Birch in Locust Hill; and Urbanna Harbor Gallery in Urbanna.

Admission to the Barber exhibition and the museum exhibits is free to all members. Non-member admission is $15 per person but minimum individual annual museum memberships are $15 and family memberships are $25. Join and save.

To find out everything you need to know about the museum and park, purchase event tickets, donate, volunteer, or become a member visit http://www.deltavillemuseum.com, email or call 776-7200. The museum mailing address is P.O. Box 466, Deltaville, VA 23043.
