“Jazz Under the Stars” will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park to benefit the Middlesex County Museum & Historical Society Inc.

The public is invited to support this fundraiser and enjoy a wonderful musical evening under the stars with music by “The Kevin Gaines Trio.” The tax-deductible admission fee is $10 per person; children under age 12 will be admitted free. Tickets will be available at the gate, which opens at 5 p.m.

The Kevin Gaines Trio consists of guitar, bass and drums and draws on jazz music for its repertoire. This includes swing, standards, Latin jazz, and some surprises.

The leader of the group, drummer Kevin Gaines, needs no introduction. For the last seven years, he has graced the stage of Deltatville’s ‘Groovin’ concert series as a member of the “Josh Walker Quartet.” An animated and driving drummer, he always knows exactly what sort of groove to give a song.

Young bassist Justin Esposito is taking the music scene by storm. A recent VCU graduate, his reputation as a bassist has already taken him to perform in many different places, including Durban, South Africa.

Guitarist Alan Parker, also known as “Amazing Parker,” is truly a special talent. In addition to leading his own groups, “The AP Connection” and “Poser,” he is the co-founder of 32 Bar Records, a local record label that has released a successful string of works by various Richmond area artists. Parker has been one of Richmond’s leading voices on guitar for some years, and has an incredibly unique confidence and maturity in his playing.

In short, prepare for an evening of swinging good music by a highly-sought-after and engaging jazz group.
