Jacquie Colligan at Middlesex Art Guild Saturday

image
The artwork and jewelry of Jacquie Colligan is on display at the Middlesex Art Guild Gallery.
Solitude is something we all occasionally seek in our own specific way. Solitude is something we all need!

Jacquie Colligan has created her own imaginary solitude through a specific watercolor painting technique she calls her “Solitude Series.” The Middlesex Art Guild Gallery’s featured artist for September, Colligan, will be at the gallery this Saturday, September 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to greet and talk with visitors.  At 1 p.m. she will demonstrate her “Solitude Series” painting technique!

For those who have ever thought about painting but were intimidated by having to deal with all those colors, now is the chance to see a painting method that only uses two colors.  With these two colors and good watercolor paper, Colligan creates an image that is reminiscent of a quiet snow fall at dusk on a cold January day.  Or is it a scene from a forgotten shadowy dream you had many years past?

Come and see what these magic images bring to you.  With a few quick brushings using her paint brush and markings with her ink pen, Colligan will show you a possible avenue for self expression bringing out the touch of one’s artistic self.  It’s not easy!  But by watching this master working at her craft and answering questions, one just might learn a new and challenging pastime.

The Middlesex Art Guild Gallery is located at 217 Virginia Street in Urbanna.  Saturday’s event is free and open to the public.

The Middlesex Art Guild is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit community arts organization and a Community Partner with the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. Contributions may be tax deductible.
