On October 4 about 150 members of the Marine Corps Detachment at Fort Lee ran through Saluda and arrived at the graveyard of Christ Church Episcopal for their annual visit to honor the legacy of Lt. General “Chesty” Puller, the most decorated marine in history, at his grave site. Lt. Gen. Puller grew up in West Point and retired in Saluda.
