Hayride & Jackson Creek Christmas Cruise is Friday
Plans are under way for the annual Deltaville Community Center Hayride and Jackson Creek Christmas Cruise on Friday, December 14. The rain date is Saturday, December 15.
Activities will be from 4-8 p.m. in the decorated DCA building where there will be free homemade cookies and cider and perhaps a special jolly old elf.
There will be four cruises, one each hour, starting at 4:30 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their departure time. They then will take a tractor-drawn hayride down Lover’s Lane to the town dock past decorated homes and candlelit luminaries.
From the town dock, the Crown family’s cruise boat “Tortuga” will take all on a magical tour of decorated Jackson Creek. After the cruise, participants will take a hayride back to the DCA building.
“This event has become cherished as a must do seasonal family outing,” said DCA official Bob Walker. “We ask that the families on Lover’s Lane and Jackson Creek help the event by decorating before December 14.
Only 40 tickets will be available for each cruise. Tickets for anyone over age 12 are $5. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Everyone, including children, must have a ticket and one adult can be responsible for no more than four children.
All children age 3 and under must provide their own life jackets. Please call ahead of time if you need a life jacket for your infant or small child, and the DCA will provide one. Regular children’s life jackets will be provided on the tour boat “Tortuga.”
Tickets are available in Deltaville at J&W Seafood and Nauti Nell’s on a first-come, first-served basis. Any tickets not sold before the event will be available at the door, but usually the cruises sell out early.
