Hands Across Middlesex
by Cathy Newcomb
The July meeting for Hands Across Middlesex was held at Urbanna Baptist Church on July 20. Thanks go to the members of that church for their generous offer for us to use their building for our meeting.
The meeting was well attended and there were many new faces in the crowd. It is great to know that folks are interested in our mission.
The business meeting covered the usual reports from our various committees. Everything is up and running!
The highlights of our session were:
1. We may be moving our Clothing Barn and Furniture Barn to a more attractive location soon. When this takes place, we will be sure to let you know.
2. Our Food Bank is in good shape, but we are always looking to replenish items as they get distributed to those in need. So, please keep those canned foods coming.
3. We are hoping to supply a new community service soon. This will involve making life safer for those in our area who suffer from memory loss and other forms of dementia. More news will be coming to you on this as the plan gets more established.
4. The 2009 Gala will be held at Bethpage Community Center on March 14. Everyone who was there earlier this year can attest to the fact it was a great event. Mark your calendars!
We thank all of you so sincerely for your continuous support by giving of your time, money and food items.
Next month’s meeting will be held at St. Paul Baptist Church in Jamaica on August 17 at 3:30 p.m. The public is invited.
