Family Education Program still taking participants
The Prevention Services staff of the Community Services Board is offering the Family Education Program in Lancaster County, which began March 19 and will end June 11. Participants can still register and attend their first class on Thursday, March 26; no new participants will be added after this date.
The Family Education Program is a course for both parents and their children, ages 5-11.
The program is designed to increase family communication, cooperation, closeness and respect. Parents and children—meeting separately and together—learn to handle feelings, communicate needs, understand each other better, take charge of their own behaviors, feel good about themselves, enjoy each other and have fun. Practical, effective techniques are taught for handling challenging behavior and conflicts.
The group takes place in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere and is free of charge. The program is held on Thursday evenings at Lancaster Primary School, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dinner is provided each night.
