On Saturday, August 31, about 40 to 50 dogs of all sizes and colors turned out in Urbanna for the “Dogs helping Cats” event. The dogs, along with their masters, walked a parade route (about 1.5 miles) to raise money for the Urbanna Cat Project. Over $600 was raised on the day of the event along with about 75 pounds of cat food.

The Urbanna Cat Project is managed by Suzanne White, Stacy Riddick, and Dana Abbott with the help of numerous other volunteers. Their goal is to make an effective, humane, cooperative and lasting impact on the feral cat population of Urbanna by organizing volunteers, educating members of the community and humanely decreasing the number of feral cats using the Trap-Neuter-Return method.

Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible donation can send contributions to: Precious Purrs and Paws, P.O. Box 1153, Urbanna, VA 23175.
