Creek Christmas Cruise is a sold-out holiday hit

Although the preprinted tickets for the Jackson Creek Christmas Cruise on December 8 (rain date December 9) have sold out, don’t despair. There will be at least two extra seats for each cruise at 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30 that evening. Stop by the Deltaville Community Center, 17147 General Puller Hwy., on the evening of the cruise and you may be lucky enough to get seats. If a few ticket holders don’t show up, these seats will be available too. You may not get to cruise but you will get apple cider, homemade cookies, and a visit with your friends and neighbors.

This year there will be a judged contest for the best confection and a people’s choice award. An entry doesn’t have to be a traditional cookie but it must be homemade and in individual portions. Two $50 gift certificates will be given away—one from J&W Seafood and one from Nauti Nell’s.

If you plan to compete for the judged cookie contest, you must deliver your entry to the Deltaville Community Center between 1-4 p.m. on December 8. Entries can also be left at Nauti Nell’s on the same date between 10 a.m.-1 p.m. These times apply only to the judged contest. For the people’s choice award you can deliver your creation any time that evening but the earlier the better. You don’t need to compete in the contest to bring cookies. Usually attendees consume approximately 45 dozen cookies during the evening so any edible contribution is enthusiastically welcomed.

Doors will open at the Deltaville Community Center at 4 p.m. Please arrive 15 minutes before your cruise is scheduled to leave. Cleanup starts at 7:30 p.m. and the building will close after the last cruise-goers return. For the 7:30 p.m. cruise plan to have your cider and cookies before the cruise departs.

If you would like to help serve in the building, contact Marsha Norton 804-815-1071. If you would like to volunteer at the dock, call Lud Kimbrough 804-514-5858. For more information, call Raynell Smith at 804-815-3102.
