Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen contestant Stephanie Hutton and Little Miss Spat contestant Emma Gresham grew many delicious fruits and vegetables in their Victory Garden.

The garden, which was Hutton’s community service project, had three families participate. “It was a huge success,” she said.

Over 20 different kinds of food were grown. “I am very pleased with the amount of food the garden produced,” said Hutton. “It produced so much we were able to donate seven boxes of produce to social services, including tomatoes, several different kinds of peppers, squash, zucchini, and even a watermelon.”

Hutton extended a “huge thank-you” to the businesses and individuals that generously donated to the garden, including Hurd’s, Henley’s Do-It Center, Hands Across Middlesex, Spencer Burch, the Valadez family, John “Buddy” Moore, and the Middlesex Board of Supervisors for the use of the land. “Without all their contributions the garden would not have been possible,” she said.
