Gloucester family letters from the Civil War come to life in “When Peace Again Shall Smile,” a theatrical commemoration by the Court House Players on March 8-10 at T.C. Walker Education Center in Gloucester.
Shows will be at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 8-9, and 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. For details, tickets, memberships and more information, visit courthouseplayers.org.
“When Peace Again Shall Smile” is a Civil War perspective by Catherine “Kitty” Witty based on letters of the Taliaferro family of Gloucester. Although no significant battles were fought in Gloucester, the lives of its citizens both on the battlefields and on the home front were forever changed.
Members of the local Irish band, “Celtastrophe,” will provide live music for the production, with lighting by George Rhodes, set by Tom and Kitty Witty, and Mary Jane Mattson as stage manager.
