Chesty Puller home opens to the public Friday

Lt.Gen. Chesty Puller
General Lewis “Chesty” Puller’s home on Gloucester Road in Saluda will be open to the public on Friday, November 14, to honor the famous officer.

The open house will coincide with the celebratory annual “Puller Run” by Marines from their base at Fort Lee to the outskirts of Saluda and then to Christ Church Parish, where they will lay a wreath at General Puller’s gravesite and conclude their visit at the home.

The open house will celebrate the life and service of the most decorated officer in the history of the Marines. A special invitation is extended to the Marine Corps and to the service men and women who are participating in the Chesty Puller Memorial Run.

Many people know of General Puller’s accomplishments, and many in the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck know that upon retirement he moved to Saluda. The downstairs front rooms will be open with memorabilia and tributes to this remarkable man and soldier.

The public is invited to attend the open house at 732 Gloucester Road in Saluda, from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 14.
