Bluegrass band ‘Easy Street’ earns awards

Bluegrass bands and musicians were recognized at the Virginia Folk Music Awards ceremony on September 20 at the Chesterfield County Fairground.

The local band “Easy Street” was named the second best bluegrass band. Band members include Randy Crittenden of Hardyville on dobro, Joe Edwards of Topping on fiddle, John Vondra of Sharps on banjo, Robert Kidd of Mechanicsville on bass, Mike Nicely of Gloucester on guitar, and Krista Tabor of West Point on fiddle.

Crittenden was named the second best male vocalist at the competition. Edwards was named third best male vocalist and second best bass player.

Tabor won first place as the top female vocalist and best female fiddle player.
