A Golf Cart Poker Run organized by the seasonal campers at Bethpage Camp-Resort near Urbanna, recently raised $3,600 for the pediatric cancer foundation Mini’s Mission, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
“The event is totally put together, run and participated by the seasonal campers at the campground,” said event spokesperson Christine Martin. “The campground itself does provide the tables, chairs and tent and allows us to do it, but everything else is by the seasonal campers.
“The seasonal campers at Bethpage are a community of caring, giving people and this is an opportunity to come together as friends, neighbors and fellow campers to eat, drink, be merry and raise money for charitable organizations—doing good while having fun!” said Martin. “Campers there are from all over Virginia and Maryland, and they are a part of the Middlesex County community for several months out of the year, regardless of where they originate.
