The Northern Neck Beekeepers Club and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service are offering a “Beekeeping for Beginners” class.

Participants will learn how to reverse the trend of falling honeybee population, and how bees pollinate a wide variety of crops, flowers and small plants and produce honey.

The class of lectures and optional hands-on demonstrations will be taught on eight consecutive Mondays from 7-9 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Church in Heathsville beginning Monday, January 23. The fee is $100 per individual or per small family group. The fee covers attendance at class, instructional materials and 2012 club dues. Pre-registration is required.

Contact Mrs. McKenney at the Northumberland Extension Office at 804-580-5694 to register.
