Instructor Marilyn Sprouse offers Ben Balton some guidance during a recent smARTS program.

The first of a series of Saturday Morning Arts (smARTs) programs for children, sponsored by the Rappahannock Art League, was held at the Studio Gallery on January 18.

Lancaster Middle School art instructor Marilyn Sprouse worked with 16 eager students on a winter drawing workshop.

Children’s workshop chairman Sukey Starkey declared the workshop a great success and was very pleased with the overflow attendance.

The workshops for youths ages 7-17 are held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on third Saturdays at the Studio Gallery, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.

On February 22, the theme will be watercolor fun. To register, visit the gallery or call 436-9309.
