Annual waterfowl show to feature over 80 exhibitors

The 34th annual Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show is set for Saturday and Sunday, March 16-17, at the White Stone Firehouse. Over 80 artists and carvers from 10 states will exhibit their paintings, bird carvings, bronze sculptures, and photography.
A celebration of wildfowl art at its finest, this unique art show is dedicated to showcasing all forms of wildfowl in many varied art mediums.
The show has been named one of the top 20 events in the South for March 2013 by the Southeast Tourism Society. This is the only event selected in Virginia for March.
The Artist of the Year is Ann Holloway of Salisbury, Md. Color prints of her painting of buffleheads, created especially for this show, will be given to show visitors each day.
Show sponsors are W.F. Booth and Son Inc., Bank of Lancaster and Bay Trust, Rappahannock Rentals, Lawler Real Estate, Paul Sciacchitano and Welby Saunders of Wells Fargo Advisors, Coloryn Studio, Willaby’s Catering, and Currie Funeral Home.
The show is open to the public from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, and from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17. The admission is $8, with children under age 12 free.
Lunch is available both days with oysters, crab, barbecue, homemade desserts and other items. A special dining area will be available.
The Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show is sponsored by the White Stone Volunteer Fire Department and all proceeds benefit the operations of the fire department.
