Animal Shelter Shoe Drive continues

Here’s a way you can help the animals in our Middlesex County Animal Shelter and people in third world countries: Partnering with Funds2Orgs, Middlesex Pet Friends for Life is continuing to collect shoes that will be shipped to developing nations in Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe.

Small businesses (micro-enterprises) in those developing nations can purchase the shoes for pennies and resell them to retail customers for a fraction of their original price in America. The micro-enterprise industry represents one of the most effective ways to help many families out of extreme poverty. Google Funds2Orgs for more information about the program.

Please bring your gently used (or as a dog lover said, “’gently chewed”) or new shoes to the following locations:
Urbanna: Urbanna Library, Marshall’s Drug Store, Urbanna IGA Market, EVB, Urbanna United Methodist Church.

Deltaville: Nauti Nell’s, Dollar General, Hurd’s, Deltaville Library, Philippi Church, EVB.

Hartfield: YMCA, Lower United Methodist Church, Piankatank Shores, EVB, Hartfield Veterinary Hospital.

Topping: Church of the Visitation, Salon By The Bay, Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

Saluda: Middlesex County Animal Shelter, Old Courthouse, Christchurch.

Irvington: Chesapeake Academy.

Gloucester: Tractor Supply.
