ACDS Bull & BBQ Music Festival to feature 3 bands
This year the annual spring event at Aylett Country Day School (ACDS) is “changing its tune” a little. On Saturday, April 13, ACDS will host its Bull and BBQ Music Festival from 4:30-9:30 p.m., featuring three live bands, barbecue and pit-cooked beef, soft drinks, and craft and domestic beers.
Opening the festival is the local band Donnie LeFleur. Attendees will enjoy the familiar 70s classic rock songs of Eric Clapton, The Band, The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison and others.
Next to set the stage is a performance by The Atkinsons, whose fiddle-rockin’ Americana music is a blend of “roots, country swing, and Texas Cajun.” Influenced by Tom Petty, Drive By Truckers, and Green Day to name a few, The Atkinsons have played multiple venues throughout the City of Richmond and Virginia.
Wrapping up the event is The Taters, whose country roots-pop style is reminiscent of 60s-70s singers-songwriters Roy Orbison, The Beatles, and The Everly Brothers. Billboard Magazine critic Gordon Ely has described The Taters as “determinedly—and gleefully—forging a path with no limits or end in sight.”
Tickets for the festival are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Included in the price is a menu of barbecue and beef, cole slaw, beans, hot dogs, soft drinks and live music. Specialty craft beers (three brewed in Virginia) will be sold separately along with a selection of popular brands.
