1st Friday event to feature glass art & Nashville singer
|Singer Sarah Williams will perform at Gloucester Arts on Main’s First Friday event on May 2.|
On Friday, May 2, starting at 6 p.m., Gloucester Arts on Main will be celebrating its First Friday event by featuring the creative and exciting work of the members of the Peninsula Glass Guild. This guild is unique since it unites a group of community-minded artists who donate many of their creations to non-profit organizations so they can be raffled to raise money for that organization.
Each year the guild creates a large piece of art glass and donates it to a public organization. The donated piece is funded, group-constructed, and installed by the guild.
Music for the evening will be by Sarah Williams, a Nashville singer-songwriter and pianist who voices her stories with an original blend of country, soul, and rock-and-roll. Williams recorded her retro debut album “Ruby” shortly after completing a degree in piano performance. Since then, she has further developed her sound by co-writing with some of Nashville’s finest, and incorporating the varied influence of 1970s powerhouses like Greg Allman and Carole King. In 2012, she formed the girl-pop duo “Sarah and Lindsay” with co-writer Lindsay George and released an original EP, “Let’s Call it Love.” Williams just released her third album, “Come Back Around.”
The evening will be rounded out with a cash bar and Shari’s famous Paninis. All are invited to attend.
Gloucester Arts on Main is a 6580-B Main Street in Gloucester. For more information, call 804-824-9464 or visit http://www.gloucesterarts.org.
