Middlesex Mardi Gras is just around the corner
Mardi Gras arrived in the New World as a French-Catholic tradition in the late 17th Century when the French settled around what is now New Orleans. Since then it has evolved into a carnival celebrated by thousands every year and is embraced well beyond its French-Catholic heritage.

Local artists sought for Arts in the Middle
Arts in the Middle (AIM) has issued a “call to local artists,” inviting local artists to show and sell their art during the 4th Annual Arts in the Middle Fine Art Festival at Hewick Plantation on Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3.

RCC, VIMS to present Bay restoration course
This course will highlight research conducted at VIMS that is helping to restore sharks, mollusks, and habitats of the Chesapeake Bay. In the first session, Dr. Robert Orth will talk about the regrowth of underwater grasses in the Bay, which has made possible efforts to restore the population of Bay scallops.
