Museum offers January 10 lecture on 1930s Christmas
The Lancaster Historical Society-Mary Ball Washington Museum & Library will hold a lecture on Wednesday, January 10, at 10 a.m. in conjunction with the final week of its seasonal exhibit, “1930s Christmas: Holiday Cheer in Spite of Hard Times.”

Maritime park 2017 musings and memories
imageSeems only yesterday it was April 15. Randy Simmons and I were parking a lot full of cars for our annual Easter Egg Hunt and the next thing you know, blink twice and we’ve baked the last biscuit and served the final Bistrobenedict on Thanksgiving Saturday at our best-attended-ever Holiday Gift Market. That market ended the museum's official events season.

Bay water quality nears record high
According to preliminary data, almost 40 percent of the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries met clean water standards for clarity, oxygen and algae growth between 2014 and 2016.

RAL Art Center posts January classes, events
The RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, recently announced special events for January. "You be the Judge," an exhibit featuring works by RAL members in a variety of mediums, will open January 3 and continue through January 27 in the Studio Gallery.
