Unique doll house donated for Mardi Gras celebration
A doll house belonging to Blair Curdts of Hartfield has been donated as an auction item for the Kiwanis/YMCA Mardi Gras Celebration. “Stop in and take a look at it while it is there, and then come to the Mardi Gras event to place your bid!” said an event spokesperson.
‘Dreamscapes’ art exhibit opens Friday in Urbanna
The first new art exhibit of 2015 will open at Urbanna Harbor Gallery on Friday, January 16. The one-man show, titled “Dreamscapes,” features oil painter Lawrence Hollingsworth, currently of Gloucester but a native of Norfolk.
Buxton to discuss the relationship of trauma and art
Urbanna columnist and author Mary Wakefield Buxton will be a guest of the Northumberland Public Library at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, in Heathsville. Buxton will speak on the subject of her latest novel, “The Private War of William Styron,” and her personal relationship with and inspiration of Pulitzer Prize winning author William Styron.
