Art league’s new student art workshop a success
The first of a series of Saturday Morning Arts (smARTs) programs for children, sponsored by the Rappahannock Art League, was held at the Studio Gallery on January 18. Lancaster Middle School art instructor Marilyn Sprouse worked with 16 eager students on a winter drawing workshop.
Parks nominated for best humorous mystery novel
Middlesex County author Brad Parks has once again been nominated for the Lefty Award, given to the best humorous mystery novel published during the preceding year. If his nomination leads to victory, he will join a very distinguished list.
Edwards receives RAL People’s Choice Award
“You Be the Judge” was the January exhibit at the Rappahannock Art League Studio Gallery in Kilmarnock. RAL members entered artwork and the viewing members of the public then cast their votes during the month for their favorite works.
New book recalls earlier days on the Rappahannock
For nearly 50 years, the community of Sharps on the north bank of the Rappahannock River and Urbanna on the south bank were tied together by steamboats. Both were ports of call for steamers out of Baltimore and Norfolk.
