The street layout for exhibiting artists is firmly in place for the 10th annual Art on the Half Shell fine art festival on Rappahannock Avenue in Urbanna on Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Maritime Museum festival to feature local watermen
Watercraft and watermen on the Pierwalk, pile driver, salvage craft & underwater robots, steel-hulled fishing boat, restoration buyboat “F.D. Crockett,” vintage restored deadrises, replica 1608 John Smith shallop “Explorer” and even a 17th-century outboard “motor.” It’s called an “oar.” All this and more on May 1.
Deltaville brothers open boatyard in Urbanna
The owners of Chesapeake Marine Railway on Fishing Bay in Deltaville will be operating Urbanna Boat Works LLC at Port Urbanna at the old Southside Marine location on Urbanna Creek. The Farinholts have taken over the yard and buildings that were formerly occupied by Cameron Marine Service and Catman Catamarans.
Pediatric health-care providers receive grant
Pediatric health-care providers Karen Ransone, MD, and Ginger Richardson, CPNP, of Fishing Bay Family Practice in Deltaville recently received a grant through the 2009 Oral Health Preceptorship Program with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Dental Association.
